OFFCUT BAR AT ALCOVA
MILAN DESIGN WEEK 2022
ANDlight revealed their latest collection during Milan Design Week—a trio of brand new luminaires were displayed within a former lavanderia of Alcova's June 2022 exhibition. Amongst multiple pavilions on an abandoned 20-hectare military site, the Ospedale Militare di Baggio is an idyllic respite away from the city where overgrown vegetation sprawls over a historic landmark.
The Offcut Bar became a central meeting space where old and new friends came together after a prolonged pause from international design gatherings. The space, in decay, was transformed into a temporary bar for the week in which ANDlight's new collection was exhibited in collaborative spirit with Solid Nature with Sabine Marcelis and OMA, Avoir, Zeitraum, and 4Spaces/ZigZag Zurich.
The Columns by Lukas Peet suspended over the room in horizontal configuration while his sculptural Lobe fixture cast a downlight onto the bar. The Iris by Caine Heintzman captivated visitors as they climbed the stairwell to roam through the upper levels of the building. Within this setting, the old embraces the new; and time is negotiated between object and environment.
